Clare is the Regional Manager for SPRING Social Prescribing. She established and implemented the network in June 2020 as there was nothing in existence and there is huge appetite for social prescribing in Scotland. Initially, a range of services came together to discuss how they had changed due to the pandemic. The network has grown and a steering group has been created to continue the growth and development.

SPRING Social Prescribing is a national partnership between Scottish Communities for Health and Wellbeing (SCHW) and Northern Ireland’s Healthy Living Centre Alliance (HLCA) funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. SCHW and HCLA each represents a network of community-led health organisations working to deliver better health and wellbeing outcomes with and for local people.
SPRING offers GP’s, Primary Care Health Professionals, Pharmacists and other statutory and voluntary services an alternative referral route for their patients, one that is holistic and non-medical. Using a community approach to improving health and wellbeing, SPRING Social Prescribers support people to co-produce a health pathway which will improve their health and wellbeing using holistic methods and a strengths based approach.
